is the publishing arm of Ruth I Johns Associates Ltd, a not-for-profit company. Ruth is a social innovator, writer, community historian and publisher.
Plowright Press 'Ordinary' Lives and community history books are produced to a high specification, including stitch binding for longevity. These books have no sell-by date. People enjoy keeping and re-reading them, giving them to friends and/or using them to study community history of the recent past.
All titles - including the back list books (which are not stitch bound) - are in print unless otherwise stated.
Trade orders are received on line via Nielson Book services.
Beware! Plowright Press books are available second-hand on the Internet and maybe advertised at inflated prices i.e. more than the cost of a new copy ordered from a bookshop or direct from us!
Archive material collected by Plowright Press about its books and authors is gradually being deposited in relevant public archive libraries (see www.ruthsarchive.co.uk)
Plowright Press usually despatches orders within three working days.
Customers wishing to order our
titles from High Street book shops are sometimes told they are
unobtainable. THIS IS NOT TRUE. We are paid up members of Nielsen
Booknet Online Orders which shops should contact when ordering any
of our books for a customer
Also,
www.amazon.co.uk may report that one of our books is out of
stock when, in fact, it is available for despatch from Plowright
Press very quickly
